Gnoll Settlements and HUD Improvements
Gnoll settlements
- Added Gnoll settlements to the locations you can discover in the world, surrounded by wooden palisades.
- Beware of the scout on the watchtower: spotting a player allows him to alert the settlement.
Portraits and pet progress
- Added gently animated portraits beside the player and pet XP bars.
- The player display now includes your name and level. An equipped pet has its own portrait, name, level and XP bar underneath.
- Talent XP bars move down to make room when the pet display is visible.
Button bar and interaction hints
- Expanded the lower-right button bar with lantern, ring-menu and friends shortcuts, with labels for the current input method.
- Added a contextual call / ride pet button. Its icon shows whether your active pet is ready to ride or can be called.
- Added a Button Bar option: Always, Dynamic (default) or Never. Dynamic mode fades the bar out while moving and brings it back after stopping.
- Added a contextual interaction button for Pick Up, Talk, Examine, Open and Use, showing the relevant keyboard key or gamepad button.
- Calling your pet now plays a whistle sound and, when no other skill is active, a short whistle animation. Other skills can interrupt the animation.
Gamepad navigation and ring menu
- Use either the D-pad or left stick to navigate menus. Left-stick input no longer closes menus; use B to close them.
- The right stick can turn the camera while widgets are open, including the ring menu.
- Tap LB to open the ring menu. Holding LB continues to act as a modifier for button combinations.
- Left-stick press now calls or rides your pet.
- With the ring menu open, use the left stick to walk forward or backward and tap left or right to change selection. Holding a direction no longer scrolls repeatedly, and the forward-movement angle is more forgiving.
- The quick-item menu closes when you press the quick-item button, then uses the selected item, with either keyboard or gamepad. A also closes the menu, like B.
- Entering the character-slot panel focuses the selected slot. Browsing up or down selects each slot immediately, without an extra A press.
- Switching to controller mode on the start screen focuses Play, including while connection or loading status is displayed.
- In the voxel editor, move the editing cursor with the left stick, rotate the model with the right stick, and zoom with D-pad up / down. Zoom no longer requires pressing the right stick.
World map
- Replaced player pins with player icons aligned with the map, like flight-point icons.
- Added a bouncing marker above your own player icon on the maximized map to make your position easier to find.
Fixes and other improvements
- Furniture, fences and other objects that are neither doors nor windows no longer force the camera to zoom in when they come between the camera and your character.
- Shortened the stack-limit notification and added the affected item’s icon. World-item highlighting now prioritizes items you can pick up over items fully blocked by stack or inventory limits.
- Disabled carpets in watchtowers, including those in forts. Ruined forts no longer generate furniture, carpets or torches.
- The start screen no longer shows the respawn prompt for a dead character.
